Summer in London

Summer in London is always fun! There are a great variety of outside activities going on in the city. Open-air film, theatre, food, drink, swimming and more - it's the best of outdoor London, just in time for summer! Whilst museums offer some of the world's best exhibitions (and are perfect respite from the inevitable summer rain). Apart from typical tourist attractions, such as making pictures with the Big Ben and enjoying the city view from the London Eye, London offers its visitors much more during the summer!

A Traditional English Picnic

There's no better way to make the most of the season's rare hazy sunny days and the city's lush, green, meandering parks and gardens than with a spot of traditional summer picnicking. London is a home for more than 200 green zones you can choose. Holland Park is the ideal location for those wanting to escape the clamour of the city but who don't want to travel too far out of the centre. Small, but perfectly formed, this lovely park is perfect for an intimate picnic or romantic stroll. The largest public square in London, Lincoln's Inn Fields has a rich and varied history. With summer, come long, drawn-out summer evenings. In the shadow of both Centre point and St Giles-in-the-Fields Church, hidden from most tourists and residents alike, lies this beautiful West End garden.

Wimbledon Tennis Championships

Even if you are not a legitimate tennis fan, visiting Wimbledon Tennis Championships is still a must in London calendar. Apart from watching a game, there are plenty of ace things to do in Wimbledon. In fact, with a windmill museum, a famous common, a theatre that's home to some of London's best family-friendly shows and some great bars and restaurants, you could find that strawberries and cream are the last thing on your mind.

Notting Hill Carnival

Europe's biggest street festival, Notting Hill Carnival is a vivid spectacle representing London's multicultural past and present. Since 1964 the capital's Caribbean communities have celebrated their culture and traditions at this two-day festival of fantastic live music, which ranges from reggae to dub to salsa. The celebrations also include soca floats, steel bands, and a whole lot of jerk chicken and fried plantain.

Flamingo Pier Party

One of the finest and most fun pop-up parties - Flamingo Pier is a great event for anyone who likes their pop-ups with a big dose of tropical indulgence. The action takes place both inside Hackney Wick's Counter Cafe and on the venue's floating pontoon, as well as Counter's moored canal side boat. There will be DJs spinning deep disco and hip house soundtracks, street food, bespoke cocktails and craft beer and each night the party is themed around a different exotic location.

London Summer Food Festivals

London boasts a year-round programme of food festivals that provide a treat for all palates. However, the summer months are the ideal time to turn an outdoor space into a foodie's heaven. Such as, Street Feast gastronomic event offers interesting, delicious and high quality food at an affordable price. Within the yard hungry visitors will be able to choose from a number of well-known traders and guest traders, who will debut new menus for the occasion. Taste of London is a wonderful al fresco festival of all things foodie. Indulge in some delicious gluttony as over forty of London's best restaurants, including a flurry of Michelin stars, show off their culinary handiwork. The BBC Good Food Festival gives visitors a great selection of food to sample and expert tips from well-known cooks and chefs including baker Paul Hollywood, Le Gavroche chef Michel Roux Jr.
