Host Family Housing
Living with a host family is the best way for you to plunge into a British environment. There is no better way to experience the 'British way of life'. By living like a local, you completely soak up the culture without even stepping out of the house.
SSE is focus on providing safe, comfortable homestay accommodation to our students, interns and trainees at a reasonable price. We take the utmost care in ensuring that all of your host family requirements are met in full. All of our host families have been assessed and the accommodation is fully inspected before being accepted as a suitable homestay.
Host Family Living Options
Prices for Host Family stay are vary depending on the room type, living zone and a type of catering.
Types of Catering:
(SC) Self Catering
(BB) Bed and Breakfast
(HB) Half Board (Breakfast and Dinner)
Twin (2 students in 1 room)
Zone 1/2 (Central London)
Zone 3/4 (15 - 30 min to Central London)
Zone 4/5 (30 - 40 min to Central London)
Prices and Fees
Single room per person per week
Twin room per person per week
Administration Fee - £35 per booking.
Christmas Supplement - If you are staying between 24th December to 1st January there will be a one-off supplementary fee of £35 per person.
Summer Supplement - If you are staying between 01st July to 31st August there will be an additional charge of £15 per person per week.
Short Term Supplement - For stays of under 14 nights there will be a one-off supplementary fee of £100.
Self - catering:
The host will not provide you with food. You will instead be given some storage space in the host's kitchen and have access to the kitchen to cook your own meals, in accordance with household rules and times.
Bed & Breakfast:
A continental breakfast will be provided (but not served) by your host. This usually includes toast, jam, cereal, tea/coffee/fruit juice. You are not generally permitted to use the kitchen to cook or store your own food. However, some hosts permit light cooking if specifically arranged when booking.
The host will provide you with breakfast (continental) and dinner. Where possible you will usually eat dinner together with the host. You will not be given any access to the kitchen as meals are provided. Snacks are not included, these can be purchased fairly cheaply and hosts usually can provide some storage space if requested.
Host Family Application:
Contact us and provide all of your homestay preferences.
Once we receive your request, one of our team member will begin working on matching your request with suitable host families.
Within 24-48 hours of your application, we will send you via email a selection of host family profiles matching your requirements.
You review the profiles and notify us of the hosts you are interested in, in order of priority. Feel free to ask us any questions about any families.
We will then check availability with your preferred host families and let you know which hosts are available for the dates you require.
You confirm your choice of host family and we send you our invoice for the full period of your stay. We cannot confirm the booking until payment has been made in full.
As soon as we receive payment, we officially confirm your homestay booking with you and your host by confirmation letter, which provides all the host.
